Far Cry 3 Release Dates Announced

John Gray February 19, 2012 Comments Off

The third installment of the Far Cry series has been in development and now has a release date; September 4th in the US and September 7th in the UK.
A demo shown at E3 2011 revealed an overhauled stealth mechanic and leveling system that is sure to please fans of the series. As seen in the trailer, the setting will take place on a tropical island somewhere at the intersection of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Although the first game was developed by Crysis developers Crytec, this game like the sequel, will be developed by Ubisoft Montreal although they will now use Cry Engine 3 rather than the Dunia Engine used in Far Cry 2.

It’s worth noting that Cry Engine 3 is currently being developed for compatibility with the Wii U as well, though no official announcement has been made if this game will make the jump to Nintendo’s new console later this year.
